Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first in the first test match. Sri Lanka lost some early wickets against Shaheen Afridi but Angelo Mathews and Dhananjaya de Silva stitched up a vital partnership. At the end of day one, Sri Lanka made 242 runs with a loss of 6 wickets.
